Mary Wroten joined Ford Motor Company in 1996 and is the Director of Global Sustainability.
In this role, Mary is responsible for identifying emerging trends in Sustainability, translating them to company-specific objectives and strategies, and working with functional organizations to drive them into regional/global operations. Mary oversees publication of Ford Motor Company’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report as well as Social Sustainability initiatives. Mary is also involved in product plans and strategies related to Sustainable Materials, Product CO2, Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainable Mobility.
Prior to this position, Ms. Wroten developed and led Ford’s award-winning $100B+ global Supply Chain Sustainability program. She also functioned as a Safety Strategy Manager, acting as the Ford Motor Company safety liaison for U.S. rulemaking and the global policy aspects of accident avoidance technologies such as connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles. Ms. Wroten also functioned as the Vice President of the Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Consortium (VIIC), a consortium of nine OEMs that focus on resolving policy issues related to connected vehicle technology.
In other positions at Ford Motor Company, Ms. Wroten functioned as a Safety Program Manager responsible for the vehicle safety certification of several global platforms. She has additional experience as a Vehicle Crash Safety Program Attribute Team Leader where she designed restraint systems and structural components of vehicles.
Ms. Wroten received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with a Minor in Biomedical Engineering, from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Automotive Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan. She is currently serving on the Responsible Business Alliance Board of Directors, University of Michigan Erb Advisory Board & Sustainable Brands Advisory Board.
